Mike

Good on you - a good event to chair -and interesting times in which to test the belief in real philanthropy as opposed to the pr front that corporate social responsibility had become for many companies.

Scotland needs someone like Chuck Feeney who has bankrolled Atlantic Philantrophies and is giving all his money away and all pprojects need to have found alternatives to sustain their initiatives/change/close.

Best wishes and hope it goes well

Mike,
As eloquent as ever; I'm loving the fact that you'll be sharing a podium with Annie at this years Festival of Politics, a hard act to follow but I'm betting you'll knock them dead. All the best!

Many a homes have been devastated by alcohol abuse. Alcoholics Anonymous is doing a wonderful job in spreading the awareness and curbing alcohol abuse. It would be a wonderful idea if the children would join this noble cause. After all it would be their life which would be affected, if their parents became alcoholics.

Mike, thanks for posting this and thanks again for your excellent contribution to this event. History shows us that in times of adversity those people or organisations that can adapt quickly and see opportunities rather than insurmountable problems will survive and probably prosper. I think where public services are concerened (to often vulnerable groups) this can feel very challenging and perhaps 'counter culture'. But isn't it interesting how energy and enthusiasm levels rise when people are given the opportunity (and permission) to be creative.
