The villages of Addiewell/Loganlea throbbed to the sounds of Brazilian samba music as young and old took to the streets and gardens with placards and balloons – the message was clear “Let’s Listen to Our Children” and Do More: Drink Less. It was the children of Addiewell and St Thomas’s Primary schools who designed the campaign posters - expressing their hopes for a community where alcohol plays a much-reduced role.

The campaign commissioned by West Lothian Council moves to Stoneyburn next Saturday morning where another day of activity and fun is promised. It was a great kick-off to a year-long campaign to reduce alcohol consumption in three West Lothian communities – selected because of their different sizes and population mixes. Armadale and Livingstone’s Kightsridge area will launch campaigns in June and July respectively.
